Social media is definitely impacting today’s web, it might even be competing with search at this point in time. It is definitely imperative that you include social media in your web design plan. Many Denver Web Design companies focus on design and have not spent much time researching the effects of social media on the sites that we they develop. It is imperative that social media is integrated into web design projects. Whether that be included onsite or linking to the site, with the amount of traffic flowing through social media it has become necessary to get involved.
Of course many companies want to avoid social media as there will be some opposition or heckling throughout the process, such is the web. With as fast and rapid as Social Media is changing it does seem overwhelming to keep up on top of the social web. This is where reputation management starts to become even more important.
A business’ online reputation is becoming more and more important as the social web continues to develop. Twitter and Facebook were laughable considerations for most companies only three years ago. Today many companies are getting very involved with social networking. Often much time is spent looking inward and companies will miss all of the activity going on outside of their efforts. Enter reputation management. Reputation management can help a company or individual contain their online efforts. For most it could be considered “preventative maintenance”.
One very important aspect to reputation management is looking at your competition’s reputation management. Identifying the companies you are actively competing with online should be one of the first steps in this process. Here we will give you a couple of ideas to get started with your reputation management and monitoring solutions; however, commercial reputation management and monitoring solutions will provide the deepest insight into what is actually going on.
First, start following your competition online. Chances are that much of your online competition is already involved in social media. Whether it be through Youtube, Twitter, Facebook or other social networking and social media, it is easy to find out where they are involved by simply searching for the company name after you have identified them as an online competitor. Once you are following your competition you will be notified of their specials, company news and anything else pertinent to their social media marketing.
Get Active! As you are following your competition you might notice that some of your competitor’s followers are getting involved in a particular service, event or product offering through your competitor. Ultimately this gives you an opportunity to invite those same followers to participate in a special event, product offering or service from your company. For example, let’s take a small pub in Denver. You notice on one of your competition’s twitter feed that they are offering ladies night specials with free drinks all evening, you might offer the same on your twitter feed and then “@” all of those followers on your competition’s twitter feed.
This post was meant as an introduction to reputation management, we will be going more in depth about engaging your customers and competition in future posts as well as monitoring your reputation management campaign. Many companies fail to consider their online reputation when considering their Colorado Web Design.

Importance of Valuable Content on Every Page
Posted by: Colorado Web Design
Though this doesn't really relate to design, it's actually more important than design, which is why it's the very first tip. I know many people reading this page are trying to find out how to make useless pages look pretty, because they think that style is all that really matters. So let's step back a minute and realize that fundamentally a web page exists to provide something that's useful or interesting to visitors. If your page doesn't have that, then you must fix that problem before you worry about how to present it. If you throw mud at a canvas, then even if it's in a gold frame, it's still just a canvas of mud. What are you offering to your visitors? Why is it worth their time to visit your site? Please focus on that before you move on to how it should look.
If your plan is to make money from advertising, then go for a ratio of not less than 75% editorial to 25% advertising. Amazingly, I see some sites that are almost nothing but ads. We know that no one would turn on the TV if it were just commercials, and no programs, or buy a magazine if it were just ads, and no articles. By the same token, a website also has to have more than ads if it's to be successful.
Avoid Popups
Nobody likes popups. Here again, the only reason a site would have popups is because the site owner is thinking of his/her own interests rather than the readers. We all know that when we're browsing we hate popups, but suddenly when we switch hats and become the site owner, we lose our ability to see through the users' eyes. So let's remember to put ourselves in their shoes. Which of these reactions to popups is a visitor is more likely to have?

(a) "A popup window, oh goody! I love sites with popups! I will make certain to bookmark this site and visit often. I will also certainly click the ad or links in the popup because I love them so much." (b) "@#&$! Whoever made this website obviously has no respect for me as a visitor. When I leave here I will never come back."The most important thing to remember during your web design is remember the visitors! You need to be conscious of their dendencies and what they want. Just because you think your website is great doesn't mean they do. Remember these web design tips when designing your site.
